Gary was born and raised in the Nevis-Park Rapids area and graduated from Nevis Public School. During the summer breaks from college, Gary worked as a local fishing guide where he earned the nickname ‘Legend’ because his clients caught so many fish! After graduating from Southwest State University, he returned hometo Nevis to pursue a 34-year career as an art teacher and athletics coach. Any student of Gary’s will tell you that he was an inspiring coach and teacher, and he did his best to help each and every one reach their potential. A highlight of Gary’s basketball coaching career was being able to coach both his son Eric and his daughter Sarah.Along with teaching, Gary dabbled in other businesses as well, such as running the Gateway station, and, with the help of his brothers, building the Log Cabin Bait & Tackle store and Fair Havens Golf Course.Gary retired from teaching and entered the real estate profession in 2009. In 2010, Gary joined his son Eric and business partner T.J. Simon, when Eric & T.J. opened Wolff & Simon Real Estate. One of Gary’s greatest strengths is his tremendous network of friends and former students; combine this with his encyclopedic knowledge of the area and you have a rock solid real estate agent. If you have a question about the area, Gary knows the answer.Never idle, Gary is an accomplished artist who creates paintings, fish carvings, and pottery in WolffWorks Art Studio, which he shares with his wife Marsha, who is a mosaic artist.
